It’s been an ongoing joke around Adamson Tree Experts Inc. for quite some time. 😂 But no, we don’t actually do it.
Professor Devon is back with another lesson, this time explaining why our arborists don’t use climbing spurs or spikes on trees we’re pruning and preserving.
Climbing spikes penetrate the bark and can unnecessarily wound a healthy tree. While they’re an important tool for certain tree removals, they’re not something we use simply to make climbing a tree easier when the goal is to keep that tree healthy.
For tree pruning, our climbers use proper climbing techniques and equipment that allow them to move throughout the canopy without unnecessarily damaging the tree.
Good tree care isn’t just about what you cut. How you access and work in the tree matters too.
